Study Materials

Formulation of courses in International Program Bachelor of Pharmacy study, Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Padjadjaran is based on the profile of graduates and the mastery of skills from each profile. The steps taken in this regard are:

  1. Determination of study material (BK) which refers to achievements learning (CP), as well
  2. Identification of the breadth and depth of the study material must be mastered based on scientific fields.

Basic Terms

Some basic terms used in the semester credit system are explained below:

Semester is the smallest unit of time used to express the length of the process of teaching and learning a program in an education level. The implementation of a complete level education program from beginning to end will be divided into semester activities, so that at the beginning of each semester students must plan about the learning activities that will take place during the semester.

One semester is equivalent to learning activities around 16 (sixteen) working weeks, and ends with a semester final exam. One academic year consists of two regular semesters, namely: odd semester and even semester.

After the even semester semester activities (during July and August) Intermediate Semester activities can be held which are intended to:

  1. Providing opportunities for students to accelerate their study time.
  2. Provide opportunities for students to improve the grades of the courses.
  3. Optimizing the available time and facilities and academic infrastructure.

The Intermediate Semester Implementation is regulated separately through the Chancellor’s Decree.

Semester Credit Unit (SKS) is the unit used to state:

  1. The amount of student study load;
  2. The amount of recognition for the success of student learning business;
  3. The amount of effort needed by students to complete a program, both the semester program and the complete program;
  4. The amount of educational effort for teaching staff.

Study Load is the number of credits taken by students in a particular semester, while the cumulative study load is the number of minimum credits that students must take in order to be declared to have completed a particular study program.

Cumulative study time is the maximum time limit for students to complete their studies in an education program. Bachelor of Pharmacy Study Program, a minimum of 144 credits and a maximum of 160 credits scheduled for eight semesters of study and a maximum of 14 semesters;

One SKS lecture activity is set equal to the study load per week for one semester, which consists of the following three activities:

  1. 1 hour (50 minutes) scheduled lectures;
  2. 1 hour (60 minutes) structured activities outside the classroom
  3. 1 hour (60 minutes) independent activities

or SKS seminar activities basically refer to lecture activities (item 1). The amount of literature used as a reference and summarized to be presented in front of the forum is a minimum of 3 (three) titles, depending on the weight of the literature.

One SKS practicum in the laboratory is set equal to the study load of around 2 hours of scheduled laboratory work, accompanied by:

  1. 1-2 hours of structured activities outside the laboratory but planned by the relevant teaching staff, including discussion and writing reports every week for one semester;
  2. 1-2 hours of independent activities, including reading reference books, deepening material and completing assignments.

One SKS field work activities, clinical work and the like are set equal to the study load of about 4 hours scheduled each week for one semester, which is accompanied by:

  1. 1-2 hours of structured activities, which are planned for discussions, seminars, case conferences, and weekly report writing for one semester;
  2. 1-2 hours of independent activities, including reading reference books, deepening material, and completing assignments.

One SKS thesis writing research activities, and the like basically refers to field work, which is equivalent to a study load of about 4 hours scheduled each week for one semester, which is accompanied by:

  1. 1-2 hours of structured activities, planned by the teaching staff of the relevant subjects, including discussions, seminars, literature studies, laboratory / field research, and participation in an institution;
  2. 1-2 hours of independent activities, including searching for books / journals in other libraries, preparing research, and writing a thesis / final project report.

The Learning Process is organized using student-centered learning (SCL) methods. The implementation of this method is adjusted to the policy of each study program including problem-based learning, role play, simulations, mini lectures, tutorials and group discussions.

Curriculum Structure

The curriculum applied in the Bachelor of Pharmacy (S.Farm) Study Program follows the standards of the College Curriculum and the Association of Pharmacy Colleges (APTFI), plus several courses on local content. This curriculum is regularly evaluated every 5 (five) years in a curriculum evaluation workshop. Education in the Bachelor of Pharmacy Study Program consists of 8 semesters with a minimum study load of 144 credits.
